Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, a Mexican-American sportscaster. She's an ESPN anchor on news, and she hosts SportsNation occasionally. She was hired by ESPN as a reporter in 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta Collins has been a bilingual since she was nine years old, a valuable ability that allowed her to secure her first position as a production assistant at Univision in Miami and provided her with the opportunity to collaborate with producers of national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was later hired to the CBS station to work as an sports reporter. She moved to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to become a reporter at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, and Fox2 News. In 2009, she moved to Rio Grande Valley in Texas, where she became a reporter for KNVO 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. She also filled in for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate where she took on other responsibilities. She reported on events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor herself. She worked as the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. The same role she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22 the 22nd of November, 1984 in Mexico City. She also has a younger sibling. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. Her parents divorced soon after and in 1995 her mother was remarried to an architect from the naval profession known as Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. The summer vacation that she stayed with her younger sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten an employment. Antonietta, a high-school senior with an idea of what she thought her future would look like, traveled to Mount Union University to determine if the school suited her. In the end she fell in love with the campus. They also offered her a an academic major. After finishing high school, she decided to enroll at the university and major in media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and also the head of WRMU in which she is a member. They had a very close friendship. He inspired her to have confidence and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her. She in turn, strived to live up to his expectations and never fail him.
